  • Physician specialising in Psychiatry.
  • Full member, supervisor and scholar of the Portuguese Society of Group Analysis and Group Analytic Psychotherapy (SPGPAG), being the current Chairperson.
  • Full Member of Group Analytic Society International (GASi).
  • Member of the Management Committee of GASi between 2006 and 2014. Invited to be part of the International Advisory Panel of the journal Group Analysis in May 2018.
  • SPGPAG delegate in the Group Section of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (EFPP).
  • Member of the Portuguese Society of Psychoanalysis (SPP).
  • Founding member of PsiRelacional - Associação de Psicanálise Relacional.
  • Founding member of the International Society of Neuro Psychoanalysis.
  • Hospital Career Head of Unit, worked for 34 years in the Psychiatry Unit of Hospital de Santa Maria, ten of which as Team Leader of the Day Hospital.
  • Author and Editor of the book The Portuguese School of Group Analysis
  • Several articles published in books and magazines, national and international
  • Fluent in Portuguese, French and English

Especially dedicated to the treatment of severely ill patients undergoing acute decompensation and training of Mental Health technicians. Introduced Multiple Family Group Therapy in Portugal.

Continues to work in the National Health Service, supervising technicians and teams.

Maintains private practice of Individual and Group Analytic Psychotherapy, Psychoanalysis and Group Analysis, as well as supervision of teams, psychologists and psychiatrists.

She has presented many papers and published on the topics in which she has specialised:

  • Updating of various theoretical-practical concepts of Psychoanalysis and Group Analysis, reformulating perspectives of psychopathological understanding;
  • Psychodynamic factors of psychopathology;
  • Understanding, Treatment and Follow-up of severe psychopathology;
  • Training in Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Group Analysis;
  • Importance of Group Analysis and Analytic Psychotherapy, both individual and group, in the investigation and treatment of mental suffering.
